The ten days atmosphere for the Onam celebration in Kerala is one which we need to smell and feel. Each day of Onam resembles different aspects.

Day 1, Atham -  People visit the temple to start the Onam season and the first day to start the Pookkalam arrangement.

Day 2, Chithira - Cleaning the house. 

Day 3, Chodhi - Day to start the shopping for Onam. 

Day 4, Vishakam - The household members prepare Onam sadhya. 

Day 5, Anizham - The Aranmula Uthrittathi Vallamkali, which is a vital part of the state's legacy, starts this day. 

Day 6, Thriketa - Families visit their ancestral houses on this day. 

Day 7, Moolam - Pulikali and Kaikottikali is performed on this day. 

Day 8, Pooradam - Mahabali and Vamana sculptures are placed in the pookalam. From this day onwards, pookkalam design becomes more intricate. 

Day 9, Uthradam - The day to buy fresh fruits and vegetables. 

Day 10, Thiruvonam - On the final day, family members together enjoy their Onasadhya. The feast and fireworks are enjoyed on the final day of Onam.
